I have been in the disc jockey
industry since the late 1990's. I started out as an assistant to
one of the best mobile DJs in Arizona. I learned how to assemble
equipment, diagnose equipment problems, maximize sound quality,
and use the equipment for performance. Most importantly, I
learned how to make weddings, private parties, corporate events,
and other celebrations fun for all of the guests. Now, I own and
operate my own mobile disc jockey
service with a focus on
weddings,
corporate parties, and
school events.
I'm also an avid dancer. I have a background in Latin dancing in
clubs and more formal ballroom dancing. Mostly, I am a West Coast Swing dancer. My favorite thing about West Coast Swing is
how the dance changes from song to song and partner to partner.
I also like that there isn't so much of a West Coast Swing body
type.
When it comes to playing music for West Coast Swing, my whole
thing is to play some music for each musical taste in the room.
That means that I'm not usually playing music that I necessarily
like. I often play music because I know that other people like
it. I'm also a firm believer in the principals of music
programming as a way to motivate and maintain a crowd.
Consequently, I spend as much time preparing to play a set of
music as I do actually playing the set. That investment in time
allows me to find the newest swingable music as well as
uncovering classic songs that are great for contemporary style
of West Coast Swing.
Over the years, I have volunteered my services at several
regular, local swing dances including the Greater Phoenix Swing
Dance Club and now at
Desert
City Swing's Sunday Night Dances. I have also played
nationally at the 4th of July convention and the
Desert City Swing
convention. I love it when I hear nationally competitive
dancers say that they've never heard a song and they love it.
If you are a dancer who would like to see me at more national
events, feel free to forward my contact information to the people
that you know are hosting West Coast Swing conventions. If you
are a host of a national convention and you'd like to have me as
one of your DJs, call or email me so we can talk. |
